THE ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST SHOW proved to be a major highlight during my visit to New York. Trade shows can be hard on the feet, but when you find the little gems of beauty, the pain subsides and excitement takes over. Our day at the AD show began with the famous Marys and Mimosas, a social meet up for bloggers and designers, conceived in 2010 by the very clever Veronika Millar of Modenus, where the seed was sewn for Blogtour - the world designed. So a very important event and great fun. I do believe drinking cocktails at 10.30am was instrumental in the rest of the day being to really rather jolly. Here are my top 3 picks from the show.
JENN-AIR DOWNDRAFT EXTRACTOR HOB
The downdraft extractor is a brilliant invention, and one first introduced by Jenn-air. Basically, the extractor fan is within the hob & just pops up when you need it, meaning no big ugly lump of metal to hang on the wall. A lovely man at the Jenn-Air stand very patiently dealt with the enthusiasm of 3 Brit girls, as Louisa Blackmore, Gem Barton & I grilled him on every aspect of the appliance range. Gem was under the counter looking at the mechanics of the extraction, I was firing design option questions at him and Louisa was pressing every button in sight. Come to think of it, we were a bit like impatient kids in a sweet shop, but we're Brits so we got away with it, with a sweet smile and a thank you very much....I think. Thank you nice Jenn-Air man!

These showers were perhaps the most glamorous thing I found at the show. Although created for outdoors, an increasing number of clients are installing indoors, according to designer Lammert Moerman. This design is one of those that makes your stomach flutter- its so different from everything else around. Really stunningly beautiful.

DIFFA'S DINING BY DESIGN.
The Diffa Dining by Design section of the show was right up my street. A world where imaginations were allowed to run riot, kind of like a little collection of film sets, on a table. My favourite was this butterfly extravaganza. So pretty and perfect for a summer party. Check out more of their designs on Tina Ramcahndani's article for the Huffington Post
